How to Draw Staircase

Here is a quick tutorial on how you can draw a staircase using BuildNow Plugin.

Drafting​

This section details the steps, possible locations, and key checkpoints for creating a staircase entity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards.

Steps​

  1. Draw the Staircase Outline

    1. Select either "Rectangle" or "Polyline" to draw the staircase outline.
    2. Create a closed polyline in the __BN_StairCase layer to outline the staircase.

  2. Add Riser Polylines

    1. Draw open polylines in the __BN_StairCase layer for each flight in the staircase.

Useful Tip: To duplicate multiple risers efficiently, select them and use the "Copy Selection" command. Choose a base point, then paste the copied risers at the desired reference point.

  1. Add Staircase Direction Polylines
    1. Select the direction as "UP" or "DOWN" based on the required orientation.
    2. Ensure each flight has a direction polyline.

Drawing Conventions​

  • Staircase outline polyline should be drawn within the BUA outline.
  • Riser polylines of the staircase should be drawn within the staircase outline polyline.

Checkpoints​

  • Riser polylines must be within the Staircase Outline Polyline.
  • Staircase Direction polyline must intersect with every riser across all flights in the staircase.
  • The Staircase Outline must not overlap with other entities such as Passage, Room, or Accessory spaces.

Marking​

  1. Click on the "Guided Marking" option in the ribbon to navigate to the marking section.
  2. Search for and select the "Staircase" node to begin marking.

Mandatory Fields​

  • Staircase Usage Type:

    • REGULAR
    • FIRE_ESCAPE

  • Staircase Structure Type:

    • STANDARD – For straight staircases
    • SPIRAL – For spiral staircases

  • Staircase Location:

    • OUTSIDE_DWELLING_UNIT_AND_WITHIN_BUILDING – Common staircases for an entire floor.
    • INSIDE_DWELLING_UNIT – Internal staircases found in villas and duplex flats.
    • BUILDING_EXTERIOR – Staircases constructed outside the BUA.
